SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy are very proud to be a Children’s University school, where we work in partnership with Wolverhampton University.
Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children. They do this by encouraging and celebrating participation in extra-curricular activities in and outside of school. The impact of these activities is proven to be positive on the children’s development and learning.
When they are in Year 5, the children are introduced to Children’s University and work towards accreditation and Graduation over a two year period. Children are rewarded for their participation in extra-curricular learning and participation outside of school of developing their knowledge in a wide variety of areas. At the end of each year, a graduation ceremony is held where parents can come and celebrate their children’s efforts, and they are able to dress in their cap and gowns.
As a school, we value our partnership with Children’s University as it supports our personal development offer for the children that attend, and provides them with the opportunities to develop their skills in becoming inquirers, confident communicators, critical thinkers, principled, collaborators, risk takers, reflective and well-balanced. All these characteristics help ensure the children are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities they may experience in the future.
