All pupils across school are given the opportunity to participate in prayer and liturgy in their own classes. They are supported through an age and stage related progression, which can be found in our Prayer & Liturgy policy.
In addition to this, we elected Senior Prayer Leaders in the academic year 2025-26; these are children from year 2 upwards who show an exceptional knowledge of worship in the Catholic tradition and are eager to help others grow in their faith.
SS Peter & Paul Senior Prayer Leaders plan, prepare, lead and evaluate worship across the school. They also support teachers preparing Celebration of the Word and Liturgical Worship in the hall or in classes as well as undertaking a daily duty in the prayer area whereby they invite and encourage pupils to pray and reflect. They also help children write prayers as well offer up their intentions to the Lord.
Here is what our peers say about our Senior Prayer Leader team
- “I like that they really help us understand the Gospel.”
- “They spend their time making their own prayers and celebration of the Word and talk about the message in a way we understand.”
- “They are very kind and act as good role models.”
- “It’s an important Pupil Leadership role, everyone knows who they are and can ask for their help.”
Senior Prayer leaders play an important role in further developing children’s faith and beliefs.
They keep our school’s prayer areas reflective, suitably decorated, cared for and appropriate for the liturgical calendar.
