Premier League – Protect the Planet Celebration

As a result of our project with Reconomy and Wolves Foundation around recycling bottles and turning this into a sports kit, we were invited to represent Wolves Foundation at the Premier League Protect the Planet Celebration held at Anfield Stadium.

Five Year 6 pupils represented the school and met lots of other schools that had worked with their local football clubs to participate in a project that promoted protecting the planet. As part of the day, they heard speakers in workshops; explored other schools’ projects; met some Liverpool players and saw the Premier League trophy.

 

 

 

World Toilet Day

A HUGE thank you to our school community! We are very proud to say that we have raised £133.26 and will be able to gift a toilet to a community where one is needed! An incredible and thoughtful effort!

The children had an assembly today, where they learnt the damaging effects that not having a working toilet can have on a local community. They also learnt an incredible fact that more people in the world have a mobile phone than a working toilet!!

We were able to promote out Live Simply message and link our service to the Catholic Social Teachings of Dignity of the Human Person; Participation; Option for the poor & vulnerable; common good; Care for our common home and Solidarity!

Science Day

On Thursday, we welcomed Usmaa from the Royal Institution into school for a special ‘Science Day’. Usmaa presented fun, interactive and informative shows to our KS1 and 2 pupils in the morning all about the digestive process. We were also thrilled to have so many parents and carers able to join us in the afternoon for a community event.

World Nursery Rhyme Week

Early years children invited their families to join us for World Nursery Rhyme Week. We enjoyed nursery rhyme dough disco, making Hickory Dickory Dock clocks, nursery rhyme listening lotto and lots more! Then children performed the 5 rhymes they have learned through the week: Jack and Jill, Hickory Dickory Dock, Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, The Wheels on the Bus and Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Anti-Bullying Charter Status

We are proud to have been invited to receive recognition for the work we do in school to promote positive behaviour & attitudes. Maintaining a culture with a zero tolerance of bullying is always a priority.

Dodgeball Event

Some pupils from Years 5 and 6 participated in a Dodgeball competition yesterday at Our Lady and St Chad Catholic School. They competed against 8 different schools in 3 x 1 minute games. The children had a brilliant time and ended up finishing 6th in the competition!

Year 5 Remembrance Assembly

This morning, our year 5 class delivered a wonderfully moving Remembrance class assembly. The children reverently informed the children and parents of the reasons behind Remembrance Day and why we take the time each year to remember those that fought and died for us so that we have the life we have today. ‘Lest we forget’
