Nice to see the girls enjoying their football club today on the same day that the FA have launched their Let Girls Play campaign. #LetGirlsPlay
We are really pushing girl’s football to ride the wave of the success of the England Women’s team last year. Mrs Sands is starting a football practise tomorrow evening; we are awaiting our new kit made from the recycled bottles from the Reconomy project and we have some fixtures planned in the next few weeks!
Yesterday, our football team played away at Palmers Cross Primary School in their latest fixture. Despite a strong start from the hosts, SSPP made a breakaway and Victor took it past a few players before scoring from 30 yards! Lamine then made a string of excellent saves to keep it 1-0 at half time.
SSPP started the second half strongly and had a few attacks, with their goalkeeper making a wonderful double save from Victor. As the pressure from Palmers Cross grew, they eventually got the goal their performance deserved to make it 1-1. Then in the final few minutes, Palmers Cross were awarded a very soft penalty for handball, which they scored and they ended up winning 2-1.
I couldn’t be more proud of our players’ performances and more importantly their attitude. Win or lose, our children always show outstanding respect to the other team and the referee, something which we have not always witnessed from other schools! Well done everyone!
A special mention to Nolan, who in his first game put in a player of the match performance in defence!
Today, we celebrated World Book Day in school and everyone has truly had a wonderful day! It started with a wonderful class assembly by our Year 1 children, thank you to all the parents that came and supported this morning!
After lunch, our Year 6 children went to read with our Reception children.
During Praise and Values assembly, Mr Morgan spoke with the children about their favourite books, favourite places to read and who their favourite authors are. The children looked wonderful together in their costumes.
We like to celebrate and promote the diverse cultures of our children at SS Peter and Paul. Yesterday in Bulgaria was Baba Marta Day, some of our Year 6 pupils created these colourful bracelets.

Today, our children came to school dressed as what they would like to be in the future as a link to our vocations work in school and discussing Godās calling to us! The word vocation comes from the Latin word ‘Vocare’ meaning ‘to call’. We had a mixture of professions including nurses, police officers, fire officers, footballers, dancers, singers, lawyers, chefs and many more! The most pleasing message that came from the children as to why they wanted to do their profession was all focussed around āhelping othersā
We have also had some wonderful parents in Year 6 come into school to explain their vocations to the children – thank you!
Nursery haveĀ loved learning the story of The Gingerbread Man- and enjoyed making their own gingerbread men in class today.
Today some of our Year 5 Choir singers joined children from other schools in our MAC to collaborate on a joint performance at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
