Ethiopian Jubilee Year

8th January 2025Mr J Morgan

Yesterday in school, we celebrated Christmas on the date they celebrate in Ethiopia! Our youngest learnt about how people in Ethiopia enjoy playing a game like hockey. They then looked at the colours of their flag and using a skill of ‘dotting and dabbing’ they created their own. Some children even wrote cards for their families.

Across other year groups, we have revealed the icon painting commissioned for the #Jubilee2025 as part of our celebrations in school. We will be learning about the artist and the scripture connected to this art and displaying a copy in our school hall to admire.

Dental Hygiene Visit

17th December 2024Mr J Morgan

Yesterday, we had visitors from the Dental profession talking to us about keeping our teeth healthy and clean. Meera spoke about foods that are good to eat to help keep your teeth healthy. Children were also reminded about how to correctly brush their teeth and about the purpose of having teeth. Such an informative and interactive assembly!

SSPP Christmas Experience

16th December 2024Mr J Morgan

Last week across the whole school, children had a wonderful Christmas Experience.

On Tuesday, our EYFS children performed a wonderful nativity. The children were superb and delivered a beautiful retelling of the Christmas Story led by a very talented team of staff. The next day, the children continued to think about the first Christmas by meeting some of the animals from the stable as the farm on wheels came to visit.

On Thursday, our children across years 1-6 enjoyed their own Christmas Experience Day.Ā  Years 1-3 enjoyed boarding the Polar Express. This included children doing a carousel of activities such as making reindeer food, designing and eating their own Christmas biscuits and designing their Christmas cards. In the afternoon, the children enjoyed changing into their pyjamas and watched The Polar Express movie with their blankets and cuddly toys in the hall. They were treated to a hot chocolate and popcorn from the train conductors and had their Polar Express tickets hole punched with their initial.

Years 4-6 celebrated Christmas from around the world. They did a range of activities including creating African art designs for baubles, creating an Indian star and other decorations from around the world.

Also in the afternoon, all year groups were treated to aĀ surprise, when pupils across the school got to meet and stroke two of Father Christmas’ fleet of reindeer!

Now Press Play – History Reactivation

10th December 2024Mr J Morgan

Year 2 loved reactivating their Great Fire of London knowledge through Now Press Play. They interacted with the story, used fire squirts to put out the fires, rowed boats, brought food from the bakery and even rang the church bells to alert the people of London about the fire. We were lucky enough to have Samuel Pepys on our journey and meet King Charles II.
