Updated Advice on COVID-19

By Mr J Morgan14th March 2020

Updated advice on coronavirus (COVID-19) – 13/03/2020

Our Academy continues to follow the updated advice issued by Public Health England and GOV. UK

Public Health England guidance continues to promote basic hygiene practices, such as regularly washing hands and always sneezing into a tissue before putting in a bin, to stem the spread of viruses.

The latest advice has changed and moved into the ‘delay’ phase of planning. The purpose of this phase is to delay the burden on public services and help reduce and delay the peak of the virus in our country. In particular, recommendations are in place to protect the vulnerable and elderly.

Government officials have stated that it would be ineffective to close schools at this stage. Therefore, it is important that we continue to manage our school communities, providing calm, safety and education for our young people.

To delay the spread of the virus, the Government has asked people with either ‘a high temperature or a new continuous cough’ to stay at home for 7 days. Please see the latest advice on https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus which has been updated since our last communication.

Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

a high temperature
a new continuous cough

https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

In the meantime, we wish all well and remain committed to reducing the impact of this situation on our pupils’ educational opportunities, whilst supporting one another to protect the elderly, vulnerable and our community.

World Book Day 2020

By Mr J Morgan9th March 2020

On Friday, SS Peter and Paul celebrated their World Book Day. All children and staff came dressed in some of their favourite book characters from well known stories.

As a school, we joined the nationwide campaign to share a million stories. Children shared some of their class texts with the school, staff also read to the children and during the day different classes joined and read to each other. The website will keep you updated with our schools number. Remember: 1 story share = the number of children who are listening, so if you are reading to a group of 30, that’s 30 story shares!

Here are some of the images from our World Book Day!

Kingswood – Day Two

By Mr J Morgan13th February 2020

The children were awake and ready for breakfast by 8:15 am. They then had a breakfast of toast, beans, cereal, orange juice and a cup of tea before going back to their rooms and making their beds for the next guests.

We then went for a 2.5 miles farm walk, where we saw some of the sights of Kingswood, while learning about farm machinery. The children returned to a hot lunch of pasta bake before finishing with a blind fold activity, where their peer had to guide them round a course in the forest.

The children had a fantastic time and we would like to thank the Kingswood staff for providing such a wonderful stay.

Kingswood – Day One

By Mr J Morgan12th February 2020

The children have arrived safely. They started off by listening to instructions for while they are staying at Kingswood and then they unpacked and got settled into their rooms.

The first activities were tree climbing and a habitat trail. Here they used their communication and map reading skills. After completing their activities, the children had some hot dinner and pudding.

Following their lunch, the children went and participated in den building and a habitats coordinates trail. They made some fantastic dens and worked safely lifting branches and constructing their dens.

The children then had their lunches for dinner and spent the rest of the evening playing in the hall with activities like painting, soft play, role play, playing music and watching dvds. The children also had the chances to spend their money in the Kingswood shop. They have now had a wash and are in bed after their tiring day.
