Quicksticks Festival

By Mr J Morgan13th February 2018

Last night, eight of our Year 5 children participated in a ‘Quicksticks’ Hockey festival at Aldersley Leisure Village.

The children were split into two teams and competed in games against other schools around Wolverhampton. Our ‘A’ team, played three games winning 3-0, losing 4-1 and then winning their final game 1-0. There were some great performances – including the top goal scorer for the team – Kacper.

Our ‘B’ team competed in 4 games and were unlucky to lose their first two games 2-0. However, they improved in the last two games, losing 1-0 and then 3-1 in their final game – despite deservedly scoring their first goal by Madison.

The children all improved with every game, thoroughly enjoyed themselves and showed great sportsmanship – which is all you can ask for.

Thank you to all the parents that came to support their children representing our school.

Pancake Making in Early Years

By Mr J Morgan13th February 2018

Today we welcomed many parents and carers into early years to make pancakes with their children. They were able to choose a healthy fruit topping, and the pancakes were then devoured by the children with great enthusiasm. Parents commented “thank you so much for inviting us to join in with this today, we have really enjoyed it.”

A wonderful community event !  Thank you to our Early Years leader – Mrs Murphy – for organising.

Last Thursday, some of our year 1 and 2 children were selected to represent the school in a Multi-skills event. They were split into teams of boys and girls and had to complete a number of different activities that would test their balance, coordination, speed and agility.

The children did extremely well and finished with a combined score of 1023 points! Each child received a certificate, which was presented during praise assembly.

Kingswood Day 1

By Mr J Morgan29th January 2018

The children have had a fully packed day and are now settling into their beds ready to go to sleep.

After having lunch earlier, the children then went and experienced what it was like to be in an Anderson Shelter during the war. They found this very interesting and were able to show off their knowledge of World War 2. Following that, the children then went on a material trail around the local environment – demonstrating their knowledge of different materials and their properties.

The children were then very excited to get the opportunity to feed the sheep (very hungry sheep).

We then all came back inside after a play and the children had their lunches, that their parents had kindly packed for them. Then, after tidying up and setting up for Breakfast tomorrow, the children went into the playroom and played in the soft play area, dressed up, drew pictures, played instruments and read books.

We were then joined by the staff joining us overnight. Mr Morgan opened up the shop and the children were able to spend their money buying gifts.

Finally, the children enjoyed a hot chocolate and a biscuit, had a wash and brushed their teeth ready for a bed time story, excited for their day tomorrow.

Kingswood

By Mr J Morgan29th January 2018

The children have arrived safe and sound and fortunately the weather has also improved. They have unpacked and played on the ropes and the zipwire whilst also completing a nature trail this morning.

We have just had our lunch and the staff here were impressed with the children’s manners. They are now enjoying some play outside.

Wider Curriculum Week- Geography

By Mr J Morgan16th January 2018

During our wider curriculum week before our Christmas break, all year groups had a Geography focus, with each year group focusing on the key skills of the geography curriculum.

This involved learning about famous mountain ranges, volcanoes, rain forests and the continents around the world. The children thoroughly enjoyed their week, which involved a visitor in Year 5 discussing his recent climb up Mount Everest!

Children in most classes produced some Geography projects over the holiday and here are a few that came in. A huge thank you to the continued support from our parents/carers that supported the children in their Geography projects.

Merry Christmas to all our community!

By Mr J Morgan20th December 2017

This morning, SS Peter and Paul welcomed pupils, staff and parents to celebrate, what has been a fantastic term for our children.

Mrs Byrne led an assembly, which firstly focused on Advent and why we celebrate Christmas. As usual at SS Peter and Pauls, there was a lot of child input to the assembly, with Year 5 children performing some readings, Year 1 and 2 singing a song from their Christmas production, our choir performing one of their Christmas songs, Year 6 performing some songs they had written themselves to celebrate Advent, and also a solo from one of our Year 3 children.

Mrs Byrne then moved onto celebrating the achievement of our pupils this term. We had children awarded their golden book certificates, which were linked to their hard work in our wider curriculum week. This half term the children have been learning about the values of being Learned and Wise. A child, who had demonstrated these values in school, was awarded with a virtues and values certificate.

Mrs Byrne also took the time to thank two members of our community who have helped the school a lot over this term. Shariah’s nan has helped support in Key Stage One, especially in helping for the Christmas production. Mr Swanwick was also thanked for his continued support in preparing and organising our masses in school.

As if that wasn’t enough…. We had a record-breaking number of children with 100% attendance over the Autumn Term. Our attendance has never been higher, and we thank our children and parents for their hard work in supporting the school to meet (and exceed) our school target! Congratulations to Raphael in Year 1, who was one of our 100% attendees, his name was picked out at random and he won a Tesco voucher!

Olivier, in Year 6, was awarded our Citizen of the Term, and he was proudly watched by his mum as he received his award.

A huge thank you to all the parents this term for your continued support. All the staff at SS Peter and Paul wish you a happy and safe Christmas and look forward to seeing you back at school on the 3rd January in the new year.
