Today our Key Stage 2 children were put through their paces by students from Halesowen College, who are currently studying health and fitness to become personal trainers. This was organised by Miss Stott to champion healthy lifestyles and how regular exercise can benefit your health. Years 3, 4 5 and 6 participated in a thirty minute session involving boxercise and circuit training. They were encouraged to try new exercises and develop teamwork to support each other. There was plenty of positive feedback from the children who thoroughly enjoyed their day. Thanks to Miss Stott and the students from Halesowen College who gave up their time to come and provide our children with this experience.
On Friday 24th March, Reception put together a class assembly to celebrate Mother’s Day.
They shared all the reasons why ours mums are special to us, sang some beautiful songs dedicated to Mother’s Day and then produced some portraits of their own mums!
Thank you to all the parents that joined us for the assembly and supported their child.
A fun day was had by all the children on Friday 24th March. Staff dressed up as pupils and raffle tickets were sold to try and win the fantastic cake created by our own Mrs Willkhu.
The children then came together at the end of the day for a dance off to Taylor Swift’s Shake it off! Altogether we raised £172.36, thank you to all the parents who contributed.

On Friday afternoon at Our Lady & St. Chad Catholic Academy, children from years 4, 5 and 6 children took part in a football and netball event.
The footballers were in a group with St Christophers, Corpus Christi and Holy Rosary. We had 4 games, having to play Corpus Christi twice. The children battled really well drawing 2 games and losing 2 games. This meant that they came third overall in their league and narrowly missed out on the semi finals. However, they can take some pride from the fact that they managed to draw against the eventual winners of the competition – St Christophers.
The netball team were playing in their first competition of the year and won their first game 6-0! They then competed really well in their remaining games and ended up winning their last game to finish fifth overall. A fantastic achievement by the girls!
On Tuesday 21st March, Bartosz Kolasa, Laura Iwan, Gavin Mann and Blessing Inyiri attended a Dance 4 Life event at St Matthias School. During this event, the children learnt three different dances; commercial, street and cheer leading, working along side other children from local primary schools. This event has provided the children with an opportunity to create their own dance 4 life session and to encourage physical activity in our school.
This afternoon at SS Peter and Paul, we welcomed the other School Councils from the other primaries within the Bishop Cleary MAC. All School Councils joined forces to begin a project about feeling safe and happy. Last year our own School Council won a Speakers Award from the House of Commons and this year we plan to enter a bid together, launching a joint project for this years competition. A very beneficial meeting was had by all and there are plans to meet again in the near future.
On Tuesday 14th March, SS Peter and Paul hosted St Michael’s C of E Primary school for a football match. The game started off very tight and it was obvious this was going to be a very close game. There were a few chances for St Michael’s and Alyssia Williams went close for SS Peter and Paul, shooting just over when through on goal. Then out of nowhere, the ball fell to Bartosz Kolasa on the edge of the penalty area and he whipped a right footed shot into the corner of the goal. The game stayed 1-0 until half time and then SS Peter and Paul swapped goal keepers, with Ariyan Pallan volunteering to go in goal for the second half.
The second half started with St Michael’s doing lots of attacking and it was down to some last ditch defending and Ariyan clearing up in goal that kept it to 1-0. Then with 10 minutes to go, SS Peter and Paul had a corner. The ball bounced around the penalty area and fell at the feet of Giuseppe Agro, who calmly put the ball in the net for 2-0.
Then for the last 10 minutes, it was all St Michael’s as they desperately tried to score and they got the goal they fully deserved, scoring high into the net, Ariyan Pallan having no chance in goal.
The game finished 2-1 to SS Peter and Paul. Both teams deserve praise though for an entertaining game of football.
On Friday after school, SS Peter and Paul welcomed Woodthorne Primary School for a football fixture. Both teams started off well and the game was very evenly matched. Suddenly, Woodthorne raced into a two goal lead, thanks to an excellent header and a rasping left foot shot, our keep Giuseppe Lengyel had no chance with either goal. Eros, who was returning from injury, then scored a fantastic right footed strike into the near post to pull a goal back but Woodthorne quickly extended their lead again.
The second half continued similar to the first, with Woodthorne attacking and SS Peter and Paul trying to catch them on the break. Woodthorne scored another to make it 4-1, after some stunning saves from Giuseppe (only his second game as a goalkeeper). Bartosz Kolasa then scored another for SS Peter and Paul with a stunning right foot shot before Woodthorne added another late on, with the game finishing 5-2 to Woodthorne. SS Peter and Paul play again on Tuesday 14th March against St Michaels C of E Primary School.
Yesterday, some children in Years 4, 5 and 6 represented the school in the Tag Rugby Sub-City Finals competition. Kindly, Mrs O’Leary stepped into be the team coach and she did a fantastic job. This was the children’s first experience of competitive tag rugby, having unfortunately missed the practise event a few weeks earlier. This did not phase the children though as they performed brilliantly and behaved impeccably as usual. They won two out of their four games and finished third in their league of five schools. This meant that we qualified for the Tag Rugby City Finals Tournament. A fantastic achievement by all that participated. A special mention to Autumn Marchant, who was picked out after the tournament by a member of staff from Highfield’s for a wonderful performance.
