On Monday, our School Council were very fortunate to experience a trip to London and a tour of the Houses of Parliament. Our local MP – Stuart Anderson – met the children and walked with them on the tour, answering questions that they had.

The children found out about how the Houses of Parliament used to be a palace for the royal family, and walked through the robing room, the Royal Gallery, the House of Lords, central lobby and finished in the House of Commons, where our Prime Minister speaks.

The children then had lunch by the River Thames before walking through Whitehall, past the World War One and Two memorials, then up to Trafalgar Square and to see Nelson’s Column.

An interesting, and exciting day was had by all – and the children were complimented on their excellent questioning and behaviour throughout. Thank you to St Edmunds’ for lending their minibus to transport the children to London.
