Dig for Victory Community Event

By Mr J Morgan4th April 2019

Yesterday, we had a wonderful turn out for our community event in transforming our garden area. Parents, children and staff came together to help develop the area outside of Years 5 and 6. Including: creating a new sensory pathway; creating some new planting beds, cleaning away debris and rotting fencing and planting some seeds. Thank you to everyone that attended and a huge thank you to Mrs Walker for organising this event.

We Love Reading!

By Mr J Morgan2nd April 2019

Recently, our wonderful Reading Council members held a book sale and with the money raised, they allocated a budget for each class to spend on their reading corners, in order to win ‘best reading corner.’

The competition was tough, with each class taking it very seriously! Reading Council arranged for a very special guest to come into school and judge the competition – our very own Mrs Ross! Together with Reading Council and School Council as well as some input from parents – the winning class was decided… Congratulations to Year 6 who created their reading corner based on a number of the children’s own designs.

Below is a picture of the winning book corner, along with some of the other classes efforts!

Year 5 Author Visit

By Mr J Morgan7th March 2019

Year 5 had the privilege of meeting author Alan Gibbons this week, as part of our celebrations around World Book Day. Alan has written over 60 books and won many prestigious awards such as the Blue Peter Award for ‘The Book I Couldn’t Put Down’, the Angus Book Award and the Stockport Book Award. He has also been shortlisted twice for the Carnegie Medal and his books have been published into dozens of languages.

The children were captivated by Alan’s telling of stories and by the advice he gave them about writing. Each child received a signed copy of one of Alan’s books.

ECO Prefects Big Battery Hunt

By Mr J Morgan23rd February 2019

Children in Year 6 are collecting used batteries for recycling as one of their ideas to help our school be more environmentally friendly. There are collection buckets in each classroom. Hadi, in Year 6, made his own presentation to share in assembly to educate others about saving energy. Well done to him, please support their efforts by bringing old batteries in.

Parking Wardens on Patrol

By Mr J Morgan18th February 2019

Pupils in Key Stage 2, who applied to help improve road safety and parking on our road, began their duties by letting all of our neighbours know what the plans are going to involve. Next half term they will be training with the Safe Outside Schools team before beginning patrols. Now the weather is improving, help us all stay safe by walking to school more often.
