Around the World in…..One week!

Last week, Reception flew around the world learning about different countries that are important to them. On Monday, they flew to Ireland where they learnt how to Irish Dance. In the afternoon they flew to Turkey and made flags before eating Turkish Delight.
Tuesday, they flew to Finland and made some Puff pastry stars to take home. On Wednesday, they flew to Lithuania where we found out about their National bird – The White stork. On Thursday, they flew to Poland to decorate Eggs, which is an Easter tradition there.
The finally on Friday, they enjoyed looking at lots more countries that are special to children in Reception.
They each had a passport and added in the correct flags after each visit.

Artist Visit

Year 3 have been working with an Artist, Amanda Yates over the past few weeks.

The children have designed their own fantasy creatures, which have been made out of cardboard, slotted together and decorated. These designs will then be transferred onto wood and different pieces from 4
other schools will be mixed and matched together to create an exhibition of 3D fantasy animals.
There will be a set date where the children/families can exclusively view the exhibition – details will be provided soon!

Dodgeball

This week, children from year 3 and 4 took part in a dodgeball competition at Aldersley Village. They demonstrated brilliant catching, throwing and dodging abilities along with exceptional sportsmanship. If you see them around school, be sure to congratulate them on their achievement.

To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, our children took park in the #Take10toRead moment, supported by Ant and Dec. Our children spent 10 minutes in the day reading their favourite books!

 

To Queen Elizabeth II…. Love SSPP!

To celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s II Platinum Jubilee in June,  a card from all the staff and children at SS Peter and Paul will be posted to Her Majesty to congratulate her on her reign.
Over the next few weeks the children will learn facts about the life of Queen Elizabeth II, create portraits and enjoy a Jubilee Picnic fun day.

Year 3 Art Visit

Last week, Year 3 had a brilliant first session for their Sculpture Project with local artist – Manda Yates. They created Caulder-style wire sculptures and Barbara Hepworth-style soap sculptures. They also practised rock balancing, in the style of Andy Goldworthy.  Here is a selection of images from the day.

 

Geography Projects

This afternoon, each class took the chance to tour the other classrooms to see the fantastic geography projects that the children have produced as part of their learning reactication!

 

Wolves Visit

Last week, some children were nominated by their teachers to have a surprise visit to the Wolves stadium. The children got to meet Wolfie and had a tour of the stadium including sitting in the Wolves changing room!

 

Kingswood Day 2

All the children started their day by having a breakfast of cereal and beans on toast! They then stripped their beds, before making them ready for the next school to visit tomorrow!

We then put on our walking boots and walked to Kingswood common, making potions and nests for different types of birds!

The children are just about to have a lunch of meatballs and pasta before getting ready to come back to school!

Kingswood Day 1

The children arrived at Kingswood and the first thing they did was unpack their bags in their bedroom for the night. The children then split into two groups and did their first activities of pond dipping and an Owl Trail!

The children just had a lunch of sausage, mash and vegetables and are currently out for a play time!

This afternoon, the children have done animal feeding, shelter building and orienteering!
