On Wednesday as part of their history week, Years 4 and 5 went to visit the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. As part of their local history focus, both classes visited the stadium’s museum to learn about the club’s history but were also lucky enough to get a tour of the stadium as it is now.
On Tuesday, our Early Years team invited parents and family members in to make pancakes with the children. This resulted in lots of flipping fun and full tummies!
The children were awake and ready for breakfast by 8:15 am. They then had a breakfast of toast, beans, cereal, orange juice and a cup of tea before going back to their rooms and making their beds for the next guests.
We then went for a 2.5 miles farm walk, where we saw some of the sights of Kingswood, while learning about farm machinery. The children returned to a hot lunch of pasta bake before finishing with a blind fold activity, where their peer had to guide them round a course in the forest.
The children had a fantastic time and we would like to thank the Kingswood staff for providing such a wonderful stay.
The children have arrived safely. They started off by listening to instructions for while they are staying at Kingswood and then they unpacked and got settled into their rooms.
The first activities were tree climbing and a habitat trail. Here they used their communication and map reading skills. After completing their activities, the children had some hot dinner and pudding.
Following their lunch, the children went and participated in den building and a habitats coordinates trail. They made some fantastic dens and worked safely lifting branches and constructing their dens.
The children then had their lunches for dinner and spent the rest of the evening playing in the hall with activities like painting, soft play, role play, playing music and watching dvds. The children also had the chances to spend their money in the Kingswood shop. They have now had a wash and are in bed after their tiring day.
Last week, our football team played a friendly against East Field Primary. This was a really close game with some great football played by both teams. However, goals from Theo and Dorian ensured that SS Peter and Paul came out winners. Well done both teams!
On Friday, we invited family into visit each class to see the wonderful Geography projects that have been created. Families, children and the teachers were able to visit each classroom and question the children on their projects and their learning from their wider curriculum week.
Last week, some of our younger children took part in a multi skills tournament at Smestow School, demonstrating their abilities in catching and throwing, timed team games and balancing challenges. They all performed brilliantly – well done! Thank you to the parents who supported with transport to the event.
Children from year 5 and 6 enjoyed a brilliant day with the trainers from the Wolves Academy, taking part in a football tournament against schools across Wolverhampton. The team played excellently, pushing themselves against some particularly good teams and showing exemplary sportsmanship throughout the day. Although the team didn’t make it to the finals, they should be congratulated for winning 3/5 of their friendly games.
The Early Years team and children would like to thank the families who joined us in our outdoor area on Wednesday 29th January for their hard work and support. They were tasked with shoveling soil, transporting it in wheelbarrows and filling the digging area and planting areas. They also helped to move bags of stones and gravel which have been placed in tyres to enhance the environment further. This is just the beginning and we will be looking for more willing volunteers in the coming weeks…
