Yesterday, Dr Mark R Smith, who studies astrophysics, came to meet our year 5 children to discuss our solar system. This linked in well with their current topic in science of ‘The Earth, Moon and Sun’.
The children were fascinated by the information shared, and also demonstrated their own knowledge with Dr Smith. The children actually ran out of time as they had so many questions, so Dr Smith kindly provided his email for any follow up questions from the children. Dr Smith commented, “The children and staff are very enthusiastic and the children are very knowledgeable about space related topics – a worthwhile visit’.
A special event to put in the diaries… On February 10th, the Moon and Mars will be in conjunction. This will mean that between 5:40 pm and 11:35 pm, if you look in a South West direction you will be able to see the Moon and Mars without the aid of a telescope.
Thanks to our Science Lead – Miss Field – for arranging this visit.
Last Friday, SS Peter and Paul were visited by a British Athlete – Leon Baptiste. He spent his time putting the children (and staff) through their paces in a ten minute high intensity workout and explaining to them the benefits of eating healthy foods and living a healthy lifestyle.
Leon finished by giving an assembly to the whole school, detailing his journey from school into athletics and now – boxing. He shared with them the many times in his career he had real lows, but taught them the importance of not giving up, as by showing determination to succeed, Leon managed to win two gold medals in the 2009 Commonwealth Games.
The children were then presented with their awards for raising sponsorship money, with Oskar getting a personalised picture with Leon and his gold medals for raising such a wonderful amount of money.
Well done everyone and thank you to everyone that helped sponsor the children. Leon commented about SS Peter and Paul that he was made to feel so welcome and what wonderful children we have at this school. We couldn’t agree more!

At the end of last term, we said a fond farewell to our lunchtime supervisor – Mrs Watton. After 32 years of service at SS Peter and Paul, Mrs Watton retired from her position in school. She will be missed by all of our children and staff at the school. All of our best wishes go to her for her retirement.
Our Christmas Fair raised £881.74! This is a truly amazing amount and a massive thanks goes out to all the parents, staff and children that donated to this event. A huge thank you also to everyone who was involved in organising this wonderful event.
Today our afternoon Nursery visited Newbridge House as one of their acts of Advent Kindness. The children decorated the tree for the residents with the decorations they had made. They sang Jingle Bells and Baa Baa sheep and were rewarded with a cake. Everyone loved it and we were invited to go back again! Well done Nursery!
On Wednesday, our youngest children performed their version of the ‘Nursery Rhyme Nativity’. The children did such a wonderful job. Thank you for all the parents that attended and for all the Early Years staff’s support.
On Tuesday, four of our most talented spellers from Year 4 attended a spelling challenge at Wolverhampton Girl’s High School. The children competed in several challenges against other schools, and came away with a reward for their endeavors. Well done!
Yesterday, 5 of our Year 5 and 6 pupils competed against other schools in a Boccia competition. The children performed extremely well in an unfamiliar game but what really stood out was their attitude towards the other children there. All the children were a credit to SS Peter and Paul and really showed our school’s caring and supportive nature.
