Year 6 visit London

By Mr J Morgan18th October 2018

Yesterday our Year 6 children had a fantastic day in London! This opportunity was provided by a local property developer ‘Tatton Hall Homes’, and the local press arrived at school as the children were about to leave to get a photo with the class and the Director of Tatton Hall Homes – Mr Tatton.

Year 6 arrived in London at 11:00 am at the Science Museum. Here they were able to see a Rocket show –  where they learned about  forces and the different gases used to create the force for Rockets to get into space. The children were then able to experience the Wonder Lab, where they could take part in lots of different practical experiments including; Light, electricity, water, friction and forces.

After having our lunch, Year 6 then got on the London Underground and traveled from South Kensington to Westminster station where they saw the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. They then walked across Westminster bridge (crossing the River Thames) down towards the London Eye where they were able to see the amazing structure up close.

The children then crossed the Golden Jubilee Bridge and walked up to Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column. From there, the children walked up to Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus where they were able to buy souvenirs and visit M&M World. After spending their money, the children then walked down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace to see where the Queen lives. After seeing all the guards, the children walked back up past St.James’ Park and saw a person in the army, who kindly stopped for a picture with the children and explained his job. The children then continued their walk back up to Westminster where they caught the coach home.

A truly fantastic day, where once again our children showed how wonderfully behaved they are! Our thanks go to Tatton Hall Homes for providing such a memorable trip for our children to always remember.

Pupils from SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy, in Wolverhampton will be able to kick-off the new term in style, following the delivery of a free Premier League Primary Stars kit for their football team.

SS Peter and Paul were awarded the free Nike kit, consisting of 15 football shirts, shorts and socks, after Mr Morgan’s successful online application through the Premier League Primary Stars website.

Premier League Primary Stars is available to primary schools across England and Wales and uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire girls and boys aged 5-11 to learn and be active.

PLPrimaryStars.com offers primary school teachers free curriculum-linked resources in English, Maths, PE and PSHE, and opportunities for schools to enter competitions and access free offers like the Premier League Primary Stars Kit and Equipment scheme.

Yesterday, Dr Laura Hobbs, who is a geologist, came into school to teach our Key Stage 2 children about Volcanoes. Years 4,5 and 6 had an assembly with Dr Hobbs, where they were fascinated listening to her stories and facts about volcanoes around the world.

Year 3 were then extremely lucky and had a workshop with Dr Hobbs, where they had to protect their buildings from lava flow using the game ‘Minecraft’.

By Mr J Morgan2nd October 2018

A massive thank you to all parents, children and staff for contributing to our Macmillan coffee morning in school. We are extremely proud to announce that we raised £346.41! This really is a tremendous amount!

Our school council judged the bake off entries as well as other competitions. They chose the following winners:

Class Bake Off Winners: Year 5

Staff/Parent Bake Off Winner: Mrs Olaszczyk

Colouring Competition: 1st – Nataniel 2nd – Amelia

Revolting Recipes Winner: 1st – Jagoda 2nd – Natalia

The wonderful cake provided by Mrs Willkhu was won by our school cook, and one of our parents guessed correctly for guessing the length of the sausage roll, which was 49cm!

Well done to everyone involved, and a huge thank you for Mrs Murphy for organising.

Kings Camp Visit

By Mr J Morgan17th July 2018

Last Tuesday, we had a visit from Kings Camp to promote physical activity.

Kings Camp is a UK registered charity and their mission is to get children active, having fun and learning together.

For 25 years they’ve been instilling a love of activity from an early age, making sport enjoyable and accessible, no matter the ability. They create programmes that are fun and inspiring and their Red Tops are selected for their outgoing and energetic personalities, their dedication to child development and their ability to inspire children, we call this magic formula The Kings Factor.

We certainly witnessed this at SS Peter and Paul, with our Red Top (Joe) providing the children with non-stop enthusiasm and fun games.

Kings Camp host holiday clubs at Tettenhall College, and we would really recommend signing your children up!
