Yesterday, Year 3 and 4 went to Walsall Art Gallery as part of their ongoing work for their art project. They saw an artist called Grace Emily Manning, who was displaying her work. They looked at the different pieces of art in the gallery and then had a workshop. The children then participated in a workshop where they made a sculpture out of plaster cast.
Year 2 were visited by the Little Makers team from the Black Country Museum. Following on from our visit a few weeks ago, children were reactivating their knowledge of landscapes. They created a background with watercolours, a midground using paper prints into a collage of buildings and added foreground detail using charcoal pencils. The children produced some excellent landscape artwork.
It is Year 5’s Class Saint day and today as in a liturgy, they reflected on the life of Saint Oscar Romero and heard how he knew that his actions could cost him his life but continued to advocate for those who were oppressed anyway. The reading came from the Gospel of Saint Luke (6 17:23), with a key focus being on Jesus’ words:
“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.”
The children reflected on the Gospel and then spent some time creating their own versions of a Romero cross.
Year 2 shared their learning about Forgiveness during this time of Lent and shared the Parable of the Lost Sheep. We responded by creating drawing prayers as the children love to draw. Our go forth message is ‘Jesus is the shepherd, we are his sheep.’

Year 3 and 4 parents joined us today for an Art family learning workshop. Each class had the chance to work with Roz, a local artist, as part of the Arts Connect ‘Classroom as Studio’ Programme and created wonderful, unique pieces of art that showcased each family’s heritage. artsConnect
On Friday, our House Captains organised an inter house Dodgeball event for our key stage 2 children. Each house played twice against the other houses, with some really stand out performers.
The final results were very close with two teams finishing on 12 points – having won 4 games each. Due to this, we had to go to the results when they faced each other head to head, which meant that St Davids won the event, with St Andrews second, St Patricks third and St Georges fourth.
Today, some of our children attended a ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ educational event at Molineux Stadium.

They also had the chance to ask questions to special guests including ex Wolves and Republic of Ireland Footballer – David Kelly, who gave his own personal experience of discrimination and the experience of Racism.
