SHARE A STORY READING STARS COMPETITION WINNERS

By Mr J Morgan3rd July 2019

Congratulations to our Nursery Class who won the ‘Top 25 Picture Books’ in the Nursery category in Wolverhampton. The huge number of photos in their display showed that the children (and parents and teachers!) must have really embraced the whole idea of Sharing a Story! Please look at this link:

Gold Again!

By Mr J Morgan3rd July 2019

We are delighted to announce that SS Peter and Paul have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year (and second consecutive year).

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in
2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of
participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that
the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

This demonstrates the school’s commitment to our children for developing the body as well as mind and spirit of each and every one of them.

Nursery visit Cannock Chase

By Mr J Morgan3rd July 2019

Nursery children visited the Marquis Drive Visitors Centre, Cannock Chase on Tuesday 25th June, supported by Tanglewood outdoor learning. They became nature detectives and explored nature’s palette, which is outdoor natural art.

Despite the weather, which was rainy and damp, a great time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who helped out on the day, and to parents and carers for ensuring the children were equipped for the day.

Newhampton Art Centre Production

By Mr J Morgan25th June 2019

On Wednesday, the much anticipated productions of ‘Beowuld’ and ‘Anti-Bullying’ by Year 4 and 5 were performed on stage at the Newhampton Art Centre. The children from both classes have produced the majority of the production themselves: script writing, designing backdrops, stage transitioning and building props. There was also an opportunity to display their work in the exhibition hall.

Both performances were show-stopping and revealed some hidden talents for performing from many children. Thank you to all the parents, family members, governors that attended and supported the pupils. They were truly marvellous and a credit to the school – well done!

Great School Run with Marathon Kids

By Mr J Morgan25th June 2019

On Friday 14th June, Years 3-6 braved the unpredictable weather to participate in many different sporting activities at Aldersley Leisure Village. This culminated in a running event hosted by marathon kids – where the children would do as many laps as possible of the running track in a set time. Each time the children completed a lap – they received a wristband.

I am very proud to announce that SS Peter and Paul children/staff ran a combined 397km (246 miles) in 30 minutes. Well done to all the children, parents and staff who supported and attended this event. Each child received a medal for their efforts and as a bonus met Wolfie!

Parliament Assembly

By Mr J Morgan18th June 2019

Last week, Key Stage 2 had a visit from Clare Mullin, who works for Parliament. She led an assembly explaining to the children about democracy and how the Houses of Parliament are home to the House of Lords and House of Commons. The children found this extremely engaging and knowledgeable and prompted lots of fantastic questions for our guest.

Years 2 and 3 visit to Warwick Castle

By Mr J Morgan18th June 2019

Children from Year 3 and Year 2 traveled to Warwick Castle on Wednesday.  They had the opportunity to learn about the history of the castle, explore the grounds, take a look inside the Great Hall and take part in a Stories and Shields workshop.  Whilst the children were eating their lunch by the riverside, they were able to watch The Falconer’s Quest Show; watching birds of prey take flight and perform aerial acrobatics. It was an action packed day and the children thoroughly themselves. The weather was really kind to them too!

By Mr J Morgan11th June 2019

On Saturday, SS Peter and  Paul held a Father’s Day event where dads could take part in lots of different activities with their children. The poor weather didn’t dampen the day, and there were lots of fun activities going on in school.

Thank you to all the families that attended and for Miss Murphy for organising the event.

Forest School Celebration

By Mr J Morgan4th June 2019
All of our Afternoon Nursery and some children from Reception have enjoyed participating in a ten week Forest School Programme at Wildside Activity Centre. In addition to adapting to a new environment, fostering curiosity, learning how to manage risks, and developing their social skills, confidence and physical abilities – they have also made dens, climbed trees, balanced on ropes splashed in puddles, made mud pies, made magic potions, learned camp fire rules, sat around a campfire, toasted marshmallows, gone pond dipping and played 1,2,3 where are you? What a busy ten weeks, and an incredible outdoor learning opportunity.
Families were invited to join us for our final celebration session; parents commented “Jack and Jessica really enjoyed forest school and told me all about what they did there…Savannah loved the forest school, I’m so happy she had this experience! I loved it too, thank you so much…It was a brilliant idea having the kids and mums explore different things during the event. My child absolutely loved it…Jake has been able to tell us all about fire safety and the games he has played. He always asks if he can take his wellies to school for forest school, even if it’s not Wednesday!”
