A mixed team from Year 3 and 4 proudly represented SS Peter & Paul’s at the annual memorial Tony McGinn tournament . We have proudly attended every year since Mr McGinn passed away 5 years ago – he was a skilled and passionate teacher who gave so much for grassroots football in the city too. Several members of staff were good friends with Tony and it is a privilege to be invited back year on year to this great competition that he would have loved so much. Our team played 4 matches in their group, they were up against bigger two/three form entry schools but they were resilient and made progress within and between games. Some great shots on goal from each player up front and some great saves to prevent them getting over the line! Although we did not get through the semi finals on this occasion, we enjoyed it so much we are planning our own football tournament at the end of the summer term. Mrs Byrne was very proud of their camaraderie, sportsmanship and resilience – every player was valued greatly.
