Diwali

By Mr J Morgan31st October 2019

On Friday, children and staff at SS Peter and Paul celebrated the religious festival of Diwali in school by wearing traditional dress, bright clothing and learning about the festival in classes. Traditional refreshments were also on sale to the children and parents at the end of the day.

What a lovely way to end a busy half term! A safe holiday to all and we will see you back at school on Monday 4th November for the start of Parliament week.

Black History Month Event

By Mr J Morgan25th October 2019
The early years team would like to thank the families who joined us for our very popular and successful Black History Month event on Tuesday 22nd October.
We had the opportunity to taste some delicious food, all provided by parents, participate in some African drumming, wear traditional African and Caribbean clothes, have faces painted with tribal patterns, make masks, listen to stories and much more!
Mrs Murphy and Mrs Griffiths also launched the Hungry Little Minds campaign with parents, encouraging them to ‘chat, play, read’ with children as often possible.

Newhampton Art Centre Production

By Mr J Morgan25th June 2019

On Wednesday, the much anticipated productions of ‘Beowuld’ and ‘Anti-Bullying’ by Year 4 and 5 were performed on stage at the Newhampton Art Centre. The children from both classes have produced the majority of the production themselves: script writing, designing backdrops, stage transitioning and building props. There was also an opportunity to display their work in the exhibition hall.

Both performances were show-stopping and revealed some hidden talents for performing from many children. Thank you to all the parents, family members, governors that attended and supported the pupils. They were truly marvellous and a credit to the school – well done!

Great School Run with Marathon Kids

By Mr J Morgan25th June 2019

On Friday 14th June, Years 3-6 braved the unpredictable weather to participate in many different sporting activities at Aldersley Leisure Village. This culminated in a running event hosted by marathon kids – where the children would do as many laps as possible of the running track in a set time. Each time the children completed a lap – they received a wristband.

I am very proud to announce that SS Peter and Paul children/staff ran a combined 397km (246 miles) in 30 minutes. Well done to all the children, parents and staff who supported and attended this event. Each child received a medal for their efforts and as a bonus met Wolfie!

By Mr J Morgan11th June 2019

On Saturday, SS Peter and  Paul held a Father’s Day event where dads could take part in lots of different activities with their children. The poor weather didn’t dampen the day, and there were lots of fun activities going on in school.

Thank you to all the families that attended and for Miss Murphy for organising the event.

Forest School Celebration

By Mr J Morgan4th June 2019
All of our Afternoon Nursery and some children from Reception have enjoyed participating in a ten week Forest School Programme at Wildside Activity Centre. In addition to adapting to a new environment, fostering curiosity, learning how to manage risks, and developing their social skills, confidence and physical abilities – they have also made dens, climbed trees, balanced on ropes splashed in puddles, made mud pies, made magic potions, learned camp fire rules, sat around a campfire, toasted marshmallows, gone pond dipping and played 1,2,3 where are you? What a busy ten weeks, and an incredible outdoor learning opportunity.
Families were invited to join us for our final celebration session; parents commented “Jack and Jessica really enjoyed forest school and told me all about what they did there…Savannah loved the forest school, I’m so happy she had this experience! I loved it too, thank you so much…It was a brilliant idea having the kids and mums explore different things during the event. My child absolutely loved it…Jake has been able to tell us all about fire safety and the games he has played. He always asks if he can take his wellies to school for forest school, even if it’s not Wednesday!”

Fundraiser for Street Child

By Mr J Morgan4th June 2019

The children came in their own clothes to raise money for the charity ‘Street Child’. Mrs Murphy is helping raise money for this charity, which will involve her travelling to Sierra Leone as part of her participation in Street Child International Volunteers. £30 sends a child to school for a whole year, £200 would pay for a teacher’s salary for a year and £1000 will fully refurbish a rural school. Mrs Murphy would like to express her thanks to everyone who contributed. Thanks!

If you would like to donate further to this cause, please copy and paste this link into your  internet browser:

SS Peter and Paul working towards being a Rights Respecting School

By Mr J Morgan9th May 2019

SS Peter and Paul are in the process of working towards RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) by Unicef United Kingdom.

This will be another award that is lead by our amazing pupils in school.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.

Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. The Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.

There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self-esteem. The difference that a Rights Respecting School makes goes beyond the school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community.

We look forward to working with our local community to achieve this award.
