Towers Residential Day Two

By Mr J Morgan29th November 2018

The weather eased off slightly so we split into two groups.

Groups 1 + 2

Today was one of my favourite days ever! So first we had to put on a pair of trousers and a jumper, they were called furries. Then we got a pair of wellies, also a helmet. After we got all the stuff we needed, we finally started to walk to the Gorge. On our way to the river, we saw a fantastic, beautiful waterfall – It took us an hour and a half to get there and we also saw many many outstanding mountains and waterfalls. When we reached our destination, our group leader (Kate) told us the rules. We were excited and nervous at the same time. We followed the leader and some people started to fall but the most was Gavin. After the people fell over and we got to the top, we started walking back to Towers. When we got back, we ate our lunch then our group went to the zip wire. Everybody got a turn and had amazing fun! We also did abseiling! We are currently having free time: playing pool and table tennis. We are going to have our dinner and then go for a night walk before spending our money at the shop.

Group 3 + 4

Today was awesome! First, we went canoeing in the canoes across the shivering, cold lake however it was amazing because we sailed with our friends and got to see the fabulous view of the mountains and countryside. After, we paced to the Slates Museum- which gave a lot of facts and information about how slates are made and how they make them. The museum was made in the Victorian times- which Year 6 enjoyed; they were learning about the era in wider curriculum. Next, we followed one of the instructors to the extraordinary cottages( which were set in the modern times, early Victorian era, and late Victorian era). Finally, our group had the chance to jump and swim in the refreshing lake. Many people got extremely wet and cold. On the other hand, everyone had a brilliant time! Towers Residential Day One

By Mr J Morgan28th November 2018

The children arrived safely at around 12:25 this afternoon. They were then tasked with making their own beds and unpacking. The children then had lunch and we went for a walk, where we braved the torrential rain and gale force winds. The children are currently enjoying some free time before dinner.

Year 5 Class Assembly – Anti-Bullying Week

By Mr J Morgan21st November 2018

On Friday, our Year 5 class performed an assembly all about Anti-Bullying with the message being: CHOOSE RESPECT.

The children acted out scenarios, showing how things can change if children make the right choice. They also performed a song ‘No to Bullies’ written by one of our own Year 6 children.

The children got their message across brilliantly – thank you to all parents who came to support the children.

Book Quiz

By Mr J Morgan20th November 2018

On 6th November, six children from Years 5 and 6 represented the school in the annual Game 4 Reading Book Quiz at the Education Library Service. In preparation for the quiz, the children had to read six novels and complete author studies for three famous authors. The children competed against pupils from two other Wolverhampton primary schools. They were an absolute credit to the school and they have been great role models around school, as we proudly continue to develop a love of reading.

Parliament Week – School Debate

By Mr J Morgan15th November 2018

Yesterday, Key Stage 2 held a debate in school as part of Parliament Week. The children were debating ‘Should children have access to mobile phones, social networking and online games?’

This was a very structured debate with excellent views and reasoning provided by all pupils. The remaining Year 4, 5 and 6 children then took park in a vote at the Polling Station.

The result was 27 in favour of children having access to mobile phones, and 21 against. This just demonstrates what a close debate it was, and how well the children put across their views. Well done to all involved!

Year 6 visit London

By Mr J Morgan18th October 2018

Yesterday our Year 6 children had a fantastic day in London! This opportunity was provided by a local property developer ‘Tatton Hall Homes’, and the local press arrived at school as the children were about to leave to get a photo with the class and the Director of Tatton Hall Homes – Mr Tatton.

Year 6 arrived in London at 11:00 am at the Science Museum. Here they were able to see a Rocket show –  where they learned about  forces and the different gases used to create the force for Rockets to get into space. The children were then able to experience the Wonder Lab, where they could take part in lots of different practical experiments including; Light, electricity, water, friction and forces.

After having our lunch, Year 6 then got on the London Underground and traveled from South Kensington to Westminster station where they saw the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. They then walked across Westminster bridge (crossing the River Thames) down towards the London Eye where they were able to see the amazing structure up close.

The children then crossed the Golden Jubilee Bridge and walked up to Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column. From there, the children walked up to Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus where they were able to buy souvenirs and visit M&M World. After spending their money, the children then walked down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace to see where the Queen lives. After seeing all the guards, the children walked back up past St.James’ Park and saw a person in the army, who kindly stopped for a picture with the children and explained his job. The children then continued their walk back up to Westminster where they caught the coach home.

A truly fantastic day, where once again our children showed how wonderfully behaved they are! Our thanks go to Tatton Hall Homes for providing such a memorable trip for our children to always remember.
