The children came in their own clothes to raise money for the charity ‘Street Child’. Mrs Murphy is helping raise money for this charity, which will involve her travelling to Sierra Leone as part of her participation in Street Child International Volunteers. £30 sends a child to school for a whole year, £200 would pay for a teacher’s salary for a year and £1000 will fully refurbish a rural school. Mrs Murphy would like to express her thanks to everyone who contributed. Thanks!

On Wednesday, we held our May Procession outside. Our service included singing from our choir, artwork from children and teachers, poems and hymns. Thank you so much to everyone that attended and the donation of flowers. You can currently see this presented in our Foyer.
Parking Patrol would like to encourage you to walk to school on Tuesday for ‘Happy Shoesday’! Please watch the video and let Kian explain…
SS Peter and Paul are in the process of working towards RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) by Unicef United Kingdom.
This will be another award that is lead by our amazing pupils in school.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.
Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. The Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self-esteem. The difference that a Rights Respecting School makes goes beyond the school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community.
We look forward to working with our local community to achieve this award.
Last week, our youngest children paraded their Easter bonnets they had made to the parents and the rest of the school. Some wonderful designs were on show and such a wonderful effort made, thank you children and to the family members who supported them.
On Friday, the winners of the Easter Garden and Easter Bonnet were announced:
Congratulations to Jagoda in Year 3 and Shraya in Reception. Well done to all the children that entered the competition.
Sadly last Friday, we said farewell to our office manager – Mrs Jenks. Mrs Jenks is retiring after her long service to education in various schools. She has spent a wonderful 4 years at SS Peter and Paul during a time of great change at the school.
Mrs Jenks will be missed by everyone at SS Peter and Paul and, as a show of appreciation for her time here, the children sang a rendition of one of her favourite songs (My Lighthouse) and presented her with flowers and gifts.
Yesterday, we had a wonderful turn out for our community event in transforming our garden area. Parents, children and staff came together to help develop the area outside of Years 5 and 6. Including: creating a new sensory pathway; creating some new planting beds, cleaning away debris and rotting fencing and planting some seeds. Thank you to everyone that attended and a huge thank you to Mrs Walker for organising this event.

Thank you to all the parents and family members that attended the Year 1 Parents Meeting for Phonics. This would have been really useful to enable you to support your children at home. Thanks to Mrs Tiwana for hosting the workshop.
Last Friday, our Early Year’s team opened up the doors to our wonderful mums to celebrate Mother’s Day with their children. The morning consisted of cake and coffee and those lucky enough to attend in the afternoon were treated with afternoon tea! Thank you for everyone that attended.
